Heeeeeerrrre's Toxie!!! Cool standee in the Cameo Cinema tonight.

My final Midnight Madness screening of this year's film festival. Fond memories of the schlocky original, this new version was a lot of silly, OTT fun. Looks like Dinklage & Kevin Bacon were enjoying themselves.

This evening's viewing: some bonkers Japanese schlock, lo-fi #horror with Hot Springs Shark Attack. Yes, it is as silly as it sounds, but it knows it and runs with it. Bringing back memories of watching a lot of straight to video titles by Troma et al back im the day...

Review will follow in due course on @PhilEdwards 's Live For Film

Monsters of California: Blink 182's Tom DeLonge directs & co-writes this flick of UFOs, cryptids and more. Flawed, sure, but also pretty fun in a popcorn flick kind of way (with a bit of a Goonies influence). My review is on @PhilEdwards 's Live For Films -

Tonight's viewing: rather unusual take on the haunted house story with The Presence, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

This evening's viewing: Alien Romulus. A couple of mis-steps, but mostly a seriously solid Alien movie, and nice attention to detail (interiors, even making interfaces on the computers resemble the original from decades ago)

This evening's viewing distraction: Celine Sciamma's French flick, Petite Maman (currently available free on Film 4 on Demand, for those in the UK)

This evening's viewing, Insidious - the Red Door. First couple in the series were interesting - not genius, but decent enough horror flicks, but this final one isn't overly impressing me. Has its moments, but overly reliant on over-using the same techniques repeatedly, so they lose any impact.

For the evening crowd: The Extraordinary Miss Flower https://www.liveforfilm.com/2025/04/29/review-the-extraordinary-miss-flower-a-delightfully-unusual-slice-of-cinema/

My review of this unusual & intriguing #film featuring Emiliana Torrini, by the creators of the excellent 20, 000 Days on Earth, is up now on @PhilEdwards 's Live For Films

Review: The Extraordinary Miss Flower – “a delightfully unusual slice of cinema.” | Live for Films

This evening's viewing: Emiliani Torrini in The Extraordinary Miss Flower, inspired by the same collection of letters that also inspired Emiliani's latest album (which I adored, so very much intrigued by the idea of this film).

The film is due out on 9th May; my review will follow on @PhilEdwards 's Live For Films in due course

This evening's viewing distraction: Asteroid City, which just dropped on Netflix. I do love Anderson's work.
