“never be your normal” live @ Linneman’s Riverwest Inn 12/8/2025

Over the years, my poetry has become something like my diary. As a result, there are hundreds of poems in my Google Drive that I’m rediscovering that sometimes I only remember a few lines from, or perhaps don’t remember at all. This was one such poem. I only remembered the section about my uncle dying twice, a true story. It stuck with me from the day I wrote it. I’m glad I found this one again and performed it at Linneman’s last night.

I wrote it during my first marriage while I was being neglected and abused and was trying to ignore those facts. My headmate Peri ended up finding the courage to leave the following year and we finally divorced our first husband five years later on July 23, 2025.

It’s called “never be your normal”. Enjoy.

An #introduction post. Some have called me a polymath but I feel this is more about having a tiny attention span and lots of interests.

I am a Digital Technologist working within #education with a massive interest in #edutech and #learning, along with internet oddities and geeky miscellany. I have an interest in science, tech, futurism and a certain amount of nostalgia for old tech.

For most of my 20 odd year career I have been an academic librarian but have left libraries for a career in Digital. It is sad but the move has been a welcome change.

I founded a local food blog called Dining Devon in 2011 which has won a few awards and is popular amongst foodies in my local area of #devon (UK)

I'm also a #photographer with an interest in experimental and liminality, I collect #digicams and currently have about 10, nearly all with CCD sensors.

I am a human slave to our #guineapig overlords, former #librarian #performancepoet and #cancersurvivor

Finally I am a massive cinema and movie fan, I write and weigh in with opinions and non-review reviews.
