I live in a country that has no speed limit on highways. It prioritizes cars over human lives, because "freedom". Its whole pride and identity seems to be tied to the production of combustion engines. The legitimacy of political protest is measured by the horsepower it brings to the street. So in this context, if I can trick some heartless cardeologues into agreeing to a sensible policy change that might save my kid's life, I'll gladly do it. #RundumGrün #PedestrianScramble

I did not expect to see a pedestrian scramble in Steveston! Looks nice. Although kids didn't manage to cross in time.

Can the pedestrian signal at Green and Amory in #JamaicaPlain be updated to include an LPI or #PedestrianScramble @jfh ?

There are curb bump outs so you're squeezed into traffic when you have the same start time as drivers

#Hhig #TIL, dass es in den Niederlanden analog zum pedestrian scramble auch »Alle Radfahroj gleichzeitig grün« bzw. #Quadartgrün gibt.

Similar with the #PedestrianScramble. This style of control inserts a traffic light stage that stops _all_ cars at an intersection and gives right of way to all other modes, even to go diagonally. Much safer than having peds cross while cars are moving. But since it adds precious seconds to a driver's trip to add another light stage to the traffic control, we rarely use them. It's another way we “optimize” street use for driver time at the expense of everyone else's time and safety.
