FOIA requests for better crosswalk button timing on hot days statistics 😅 #Open311

I could understand if we didn't have an entire bureau of #transportation, that they would need you to tell them where to cut the bushes... but I don't get how it goes into a black box instead of a fishbowl. #Open311 #OpenData

BikePortland

Called this overgrown vegetation into @PBOTinfo today and heard back a few minutes later that it has been added to the brush clearing crew's list.

#BikeNite A4 @lopta @glightly @ascentale find out if your city/jurisdiction has a way to report missing bike parking / #open311 or some staffer in a broom closet who is making a spreadsheet about how difficult it is to park a bike in which locations, and let them know you wanted to bike there. #BikeTooter

Hey nerds! Join me and @bikeloudpdx for #HackNight this Thursday at 7, back online for the winter (or maybe it is online/hybrid if you invite friends over.) We've got maps-vs-reality updates, #open311 data and budget analysis projects, #eBikes experiments, all kinds of tech fun to dig into if you want to help make #Portland a better city for everyone.

Everyone is welcome whether you have years of programming / tech experience or just a few pictures of dirty bike lanes and broken sidewalks. Recurring meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Agenda: * google map corrections, openstreetmap * Bike crash report analysis tools * pdxreporter / 311 open data * whatever else folks are working on or asking about This is an informal work session and hangout, discussion/questions and sharing tech knowledge to collaboratively build political power for safe streets and a complete bike transportation network that works for all people of all ages and abilities.

#BikeNite A6 I'm a big proponent of cities having #open311 data and multiple methods of reporting but #Portland has a not-so-open pdxreporter app with the category "debris in roadway" that you can report accumulations of leaves, glass/gravel in the bike lane & get it scheduled for sweeping relatively quickly. We're advocating for more transparency in that so we can analyze the data & improve policy, but do what you can to notify the agency having jurisdiction in writing.

@ascentale @carolski

Somebody asked whether the @bikeloudpdx infrastructure reporting rides get results. Well we stopped here in June, and I wasn't back through until Aug (maybe it was painted before that... it would be nice to get a status update, but you usually don't 😞 let's do #open311 or something, get that transparency in govt.) #Portland #pdxBikes

The @bikeloudpdx hack night reporting work is in the process of growing a database to feed the #open311 portal or some #BikeLaneUprising-ish kind of map and complain tool, that we're going to have to host ourselves to be sure the data is there when somebody needs it to sue the state for #ODOTGTFOpdx, or city of #Portland for #PBOT's deference to cars and finger-pointing about how they can't do safety because politics and "please crack open that General Fund piggy bank for us 🤲 ". 📏 🤓 🚘 🚘 🚘 🚘 🙃
What do we have to do to get drivers to complain to the bureau of transportation instead of honking? Can we get the horn button wired to #open311 instead? Also what do we have to do to get the bureau of transportation's response to these complaints to be to remove cars from the streets where they shouldn't be prioritized?

i made a little tool to bulk download service request data from chicago’s open311 api.

for example, to download all the graffiti and pothole requests in 2022:

chicagorequests --start-date=2022-01-01 --end-date=2022-12-31 -t graffiti_removal -t pothole
