🇬🇧⬇️ Im 16. Jahrhundert gehörten öffentliche Autopsien – also das Sezieren menschlicher Körper – zum Alltag. Den eigenen Körper zu kennen, bedeutete sich selbst erkennen. Und das gehörte schon fast zur moralischen Pflicht. Deshalb zog es nicht nur Mediziner und Gelehrte, sondern auch die gewöhnlichen Bürger in die Anatomiesäle. In dieser Zeit entstanden auch die Vorläufer solcher anatomischen Faltbilder. Mit diesen konnte man auch zu Hause quasi seine eigene, private Sektion durchführen. Bis ins frühe 20. Jahrhundert waren diese Objekte weit verbreitet. Im digitalen Zeitalter sind die empfindlichen Papierfaltbilder allerdings ein eher seltener Anblick geworden.
Das hier gezeigte Bild stammt aus einem Band "Bilz - Das neue Naturheilverfahren", um 1900.

🇬🇧 In the 16th century, public autopsies – the dissection of human bodies – were part of everyday life. Knowing one's own body meant knowing oneself. And that was almost a moral obligation. That is why not only doctors and scholars, but also ordinary citizens were drawn to the anatomy theatres. It was during this period that the forerunners of such anatomical folding pictures were created. These allowed people to perform their own private dissections at home, so to speak. These objects were widespread until the early 20th century. In the digital age, however, the delicate paper folding pictures have become a rare sight.

2) Det praktiska med att vara gammal, glömsk och kontroversiell är att andra också har en massa information om en.

It's been a while since I did one of my posts about an interesting book found in a charity shop. Yesterday I purchased this copy of
Right Ho, Jeeves by P G Wodehouse, first published by Herbert Jenkins in 1934.
This is not a first edition but is from the 5th printing so it probably dates from within a couple of years of publication. If you're interested in book binding has 320 pages comprising 10 x 32pp sections.
