In closing, I prefer using the original Ayn Odin2 on the go and even at home. Thankfully, I can use KDE Connect to quickly transfer files to and from the handhelds to my Linux laptops to keep things in relative sync (Syncthing for Android has been discontinued).

Overall, pretty disappointed in what could have been a proper upgrade from the original Odin 2.

Last issue that I have with the Portal is the slightly off 120 Hz OLED display causes the display to go all black sporadically when black frame insertion is set to 1 (meant for 120 Hz displays). This is more evident in NES/Famicom games than in SNES/SFC games.

Another thing that is common when the joystick LEDs are enabled is that the LED for the right stick stays on when it's in sleep mode. There is already a status LED on the top of the handheld next to the power button.

The stock caps are too small and slippery to be used as a d-pad replacement for platformers and fighting games. I only used the larger cap on the left stick as the larger cap on the right stick get in the way of using the A/B/X/Y buttons. 🤦🏼

The L2 and R2 triggers have a bit too much travel, especially when I assign hotkeys to them in RetroArch compared to the original Odin2.

I ordered the Portal with a set of larger joystick caps and Nintendo-style button layout (which I haven't tried to install the latter).

I could take the grip case off before I put it into the carry case and keep the grip case in the backpack or tote bag, but that is a hassle-and-a-half.

Plus, the grip case isn't as rigid as other shells or grip cases for other handhelds. That means that it's already a wee bit loose after a dozen removal and inserts.
