It's easy to forget the disaster brought by Marcopper's toxic mine tailings when you just drive around the island. And people often forget history, sadly.
A semblance of justice was achieved last year when the Court of Appeals approved a settlement of Php 5.8 billion between the Marinduque and Barrick Gold Corporation. Hopefully, these funds will go to the people and not on the pockets of politicians.
