I recall getting soda this way in China in the mid-1980s. No brand. Just 桔子汽水 or "orange soda" in glass bottles, which were returned and turned back into a bottle of soda. They did sometimes have mysterious slime in them but it appeared harmless and could be avoided.

This is such a great thing to have going! we need these in #neoDenver!
