If that comes to pass then the #IranWar would be justified as a War or #Necessity and not of War of Choice. That changes the entire equation. Entire group of countries who have hitherto silently opposed #IranWar and carried out actions which limit #US options will shift into silent support or active help.

That is not the worse part, #Israel might push for a balkanisation of #Iran and have its way.

A quotation from Oscar Wilde

Sometimes the poor are praised for being thrifty. But to recommend thrift to the poor is both grotesque and insulting. It is like advising a man who is starving to eat less.

A quotation from Hannah Arendt

The price for absolute freedom from necessity is, in a sense, life itself, or rather the substitution of vicarious life for real life. […] The human condition is such that pain and effort are not just symptoms which can be removed without changing life itself; they are the modes in which life itself, together with the necessity to which it is bound, makes itself felt. For mortals, the “easy life of the gods” would be a lifeless life.

Hannah Arendt (1906-1975) German-American philosopher, political theorist
The Human Condition, Part 3 “Labor,” ch. 16 (1958)

#necessity has #inventions for daughters.
To reduce the use of #oil as fuel in the #UK reduce the amount of oil entering the country.
Most effectively done by reducing the rate it enters, close a berth or a port, turn down the pumps and taps on pipelines, accept deliveries only on weekdays, etc.
(And increase the amounts we store, and the places we store it in, and the actual volume between import and end-user, for security).

Then we shall work with less of it and feel clever.
