This week I'm sharing some recent work that in one way or another plays around with reality. Here's a #multipleexposure, moving the camera each time and layering in Photoshop.

I was in Petaluma, CA, for North Bay Python (#nbpy) recently and took advantage of my east-coast-ness by going out at 5:30am local time to take some pictures. The Tea Room Cafe was always busy, so catching it in this sleepy moment felt really special! #photography #sonyalpha #multipleexposure
I was in Petaluma, CA, for North Bay Python (#nbpy) recently and took advantage of my east-coast-ness by going out at 5:30am local time to take some pictures. Sacks is an incredible part of the Petaluma landscape, acting as a perpetual fundraiser for hospice care and grief counseling. They also make an amazing shot in the morning! Probably my favorite shot I took the whole weekend. #photography #sonyalpha #multipleexposure

I don't know what this church was, but it cut a striking figure early in the morning against the brightening sky! #photography #sonyalpha #multipleexposure
I was in Petaluma, CA, for North Bay Python (#nbpy) recently and took advantage of my east-coast-ness by going out at 5:30am local time to take some pictures. I loved the different light happening here as a truck unloaded in the wee hours of the morning; I'm just lucky it came out as well as it did! #photography #sonyalpha #multipleexposure
I was in Petaluma, CA, for North Bay Python (#nbpy) recently and took advantage of my east-coast-ness by going out at 5:30am local time to take some pictures. Regretfully, I didn't get to visit Stellina Pronto while they were open, but I did hear great things about them! #photography #sonyalpha #multipleexposure

This is one of the coolest bookstores ever; there's so much cool stuff here and the staff is awesome. If you're ever in the area, you should definitely check out Copperfield's! #photography #sonyalpha #multipleexposure

@nigelpstanley

Nice idea. It really imparts a lot of movement!

OK! You've got me. In theory it should be possible to "unstack" the image, perhaps using pixel-shifting masks. ;)>
@BygByte I doubt it!
Actually, it's probably easy ... I'd just have to reverse time.
Backstory: About 60 years ago, I was chatting with a visiting Indian Guru, when he handed me a deck of cards. He instructed me to deal out the cards in various permutations and patterns, often with intervening cuts or selecting one of several stacks. After a dozen or so of these seemingly random actions, he had me deal out four stacks, each of which turned out to be Ace to King by suits. Then came the lesson: He explained that it had started with a "stacked" deck. He had taken the final dealing, and working the permutations backwards in time, and had so arranged the cards in the deck he had originally handed me. The concept he presented was that rather than strive to understand a problem from a starting condition, assume a theoretical answer and work backwards to the starting point. -Phil
