Is also why AI is dependent upon scaling resources to achieve results.

Bacteria evolve faster than monkeys as well, because they need less time to complete a generation.

#Move37 is a victory of resources, not intelligence.

Those a little bit familiar with #AI development may remember #Move37

A while ago now #AlphaGo AI (There is a great doco on YouTube) AI played a world champion human...
... and the Move 37 was made and at the time everyone thought it was a mistake and violated strategy...

Upon analysis's (the AI beat the champ) the move was made waaay ahead when it was necessary.

In human vs machine adversarial conflict, AI may win by "move37" strategy.

EG. Pre-deploying assets YEARS ahead.

Later in their match #LeeSedol played #move78 which was just as suprising as #alphago #move37. Seemingly Lee had learned and improved through playing #alphago.

The machine had surprised, the human understood. #AI #Creativity

In 2016 #aphago made #move37 (I have just learned of it), and startled the world — a play so strange no human would have dared it. Some called it creative, others an accident. Perhaps it was both.

A machine can play Go but not feel the surprise of #move37, and that's a big difference *I* feel.

As I said the other day Samuel #Beckett did not arise from computation but from consciousness — from the loneliness and laughter of being alive.

When Yuval Noah Harari has something to say, the world had better listen up.

Today, The Guardian published a section from his forthcoming book, "Nexus". And it contains a stark warning about the consequences of unchecked AI development.

We all better pay attention ... 🧐

‘Never summon a power you can’t control’: Yuval Noah Harari on how AI could threaten democracy and divide the world

Forget Hollywood depictions of gun-toting robots running wild in the streets – the reality of artificial intelligence is far more dangerous, warns the historian and author in an exclusive extract from his new book
