EdgeA bank near the #MountainToSeaTrail in #WNC near #Asheville in the #US this week. Morning, just after the sun crested the nearby ridges, lighting up the calming assortment of #ferns and #moss. Love to see this on a hike.
Today's hike started late (noon!) and on a weekend, something rare. Started at #WoodfinCascades on the #BRP and it ended up being a wonderful walk in the woods along the #MST Hardly noticed the 1,000ft gain over the 2 mile out, and happily almost all down on the way back.
Two sets of people asked us where the waterfall was (it's within sight of the parking area at the overlook) We came for the walk. Awesome.

Started early, caught sunrise from an overlook, did an out-and-back from Stony Bald to 151. We do these more in the winter, so always surprising to see all the green, and not have any issues with the sun in your face.
On the return, close to Mills River Valley overlook, a black #bear growled and raced out of the trees within 15 feet of me, happily running back the way we had just come and charging up the hill.
As interactions go, ok.
A colorful route this morning, right at opening of the #NCArboretum in #asheville
A slowish walk up the Hard Times Road to the #BlueRidgeParkway and the #MountainToSeaTrail, then back, connecting with other arboretum trails for a loop.
Mostly hardscape, my ankles aren't applauding me right now. Only about 5 miles, but like to do this one occasionally, it's so close to the house.
