Today’s word is “green” at the #enoriver
(I have a guess it’s due to the river grasses getting more sun due to lower river volume because of the drought. Nature sure puts on a show under stress.)

Today's mutual of mastodon moment at the #enoriver state park.
Sisyphus has got nothin' on this Dung Beetle.
Either of them.
(I watched a good minute+ of the one trying to move the ball while the other one just stayed there holding on)
Any day you get to look a #barredowl in the eye is a good day.
I saw this one along the #enoriver this afternoon.
Also, today I learned that shrews are venomous

Had quite the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom(*) moment at the #enoriver state park today. Off to the side of the upper Holden Mill trail this shrew was attacking a worm snake. I watched for 5 minutes and it was still going as I went on my way.
(No content warning - it's bloodless, but some violent nature video if that is/is not your thing)
* Attenborough moment if you aren't GenX or from the U.S.
It was a glorious morning for a walk in the #enoriver state park today - ~60F; scattered clouds in clear blue skies - and yesterday's brief rain definitely brought out all the plants in the park.
Also, the mountain laurel is now starting to bloom in earnest.
