I could say a lot about the Met Opera’s current production of Anthony and Cleopatra, but hundreds of patrons decided at intermission last night that they’d had enough, so I’ll just leave it there.

I will say this: can we PLEASE have stories onstage that don’t feature women in sexual roles, or women being used as pawns for male power?

Of all the stories that could be told—why do we keep choosing the patriarchic viewpoint?

Fabulous premiere of the new production by Claus Guth of Salome. I have no words to explain how exceptional this was!
And notably @elzasoprano.bsky.social and @nezetseguin.bsky.social .
A night I will not forget where everything is perfect.

Enjoying Beethoven’s Fidelio at the Met Opera’s Live in HD. Eloquently introduced by the Met Director as a tribute to the fight against Tyranny.

Listening to the Prisoners' Chorus from #Beethoven's #Fidelio at the #MetOpera. In the current environment, it's especially moving. "Sprecht leise"

Tosca tonight! #metopera in cinemas around the world. How can we lure the Metropolitan Opera to BlueSky?

Another newish opera this afternoon, Golijov's Ainadamar. So glad the Met is giving us the chance to see these works!

The Met's Grounded has been getting mixed reviews, but I figured I should see for myself before the run is over.
