Winter in the Valley

Stoneman Bridge in Yosemite Valley is a popular spot for photographers and painters alike. Looking up to the Northeast the Merced River flows down from Happy Isle and crosses in Front of Half Dome. To the south you can follow the river down along the eastern walls of the valley.

The Captain

From this point of view as can be seen here, El Capitan stands in all its glory rising 3,000 feet above the valley floor. Leaning Tree

Here you see the Merced River early in it's journey at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley. The river is relatively calm at this point.and during the summer it is the sight of swimmers braving the cool water.
