@RadicalEdward the problem with most modern cyberpunk media is exactly as you say. a co-opted "aesthetic" to build a world in. its become a flavor of scifi after losing any of the weight its warnings could have carried. we already live in the world depicted, just less neon and worse fashion. the warnings can no longer serve purpose because we are already there.

perhaps the only ironic cyberpunk game is cp2077, because it was released by a large corp through exploiting its workers so broken it was ultimately to face a class action lawsuit. the game as itself, is so commoditized, that it literally is what it appears to condemn.
a non cyberpunk art piece could be cogmind (idk the story well enough to say) or ready player 1. fictional worlds influenced by the setting of cyberpunk worlds, but entirely missing the point.
