Wendy LadyGot a braces adjustment and a new placement requirement of my bands. With the heat, it's making me pretty exhausted. Didn't help that I was trying to run to catch a ferry after parking my car where I could find free parking. I was a block and a half away from the boat when it took off. When I stopped to walk, my mouth felt like it had a heartbeat in the teeth where I have my new bands.

#Braces are weird. Every single adjustment makes me talk and eat differently...even when my teeth are only moving miniscule amounts each time. Maybe it's actually our mouths thay are weird. Or is it our brains that are so used to these miniscule differences that make up our speech and eating habits, that they can totally screw you up when they're slightly changed.
Anyway...about a year left with these things on my teeth. Maybe less if my teeth behave.
*oh yeah! I totally forgot to add to my #braces update. My orthodontist was training her assistant and was having her do the ligature ties when the tying pliers slipped and jabbed into my gums right around the tooth that they were securing (twisting back into position). When she pulled out the q-tip and gently said "hold this here and put pressure" I swear I could hear the 'try and remain calm' voice of my orthodontist in her directions to the assistant.
Might have been a little blood.
It's ok.
But a few years ago before I conquered my dental fears, I probably would have been having a panic attack.
Just finished my #braces adjustment appointment. I am playing a little game to determine if I can guess what my orthodontist is going to do at each appointment. When she said she was going to put a power chain on my lower right, I had already called it in my head.
We also had to do ligature ties to my top front teeth and the canine and molar because the coil has been turning my teeth from the pressure of making the space for my missing lateral.
But she's very happy with the progress on my teeth and with me wearing my bands like I'm supposed to.

Today I got the word that my teeth are moving along perfectly. We talked about how the bands were twisting my pre-molars and she told me that we will fix it in post. Haha.
The reason it does that is because to move the upper back molars forward, the root system is tougher since it has like 4 roots to pull along. That's why front teeth will straighten and move faster since they only have 1-2 roots.
She doesn't want me to worry about teeth that look like the physics are twisting now because when everything is aligned with my bite, then we will get the other teeth straighter and turned forward. And admittedly, I saw those teeth originally straightened in about 2-3 months, so I'm going to stop panicking and just wear my bands.
We added springs on my existing lateral tooth because she's going to start making space to build it out since it's just a tiny lateral tooth. And we increased the spring size where my other lateral is missing.
I have power chains back on the bottom. Not sure why she removed them last time around. Maybe she forgot I needed them down there. But they're back.
And man...everything hurts again. But I'm already feeling a massive shift in that space with the bigger spring. I'll get that new fake tooth in no time!
