@dhobern @futurebird Thank you! I will definitely start using the term mansplaining-as-a-service

#MansplainingAsAService

@dhobern I love the phrase "mansplaining-as-a-service"!!

And wow. That's a revelation to me too, but I suppose it explains a lot of things 😳

X, formerly known as Twitter, added a button a few months ago to all tweets for a feature called "Explain this post". The results of such user-submitted explanations are fed into an LLM, named "Grok" by someone who ironically doesn't understand the meaning of the word. This appears to be an attempt to use Mansplaining As A Service to do work and monetise it. But, when you consider typical users of Twitter these days and their level of human intelligence, it's a bad source to attempt to derive artificial intelligence.

@itsfoss All existing #AI are at best bad image generators if not #MansplainingAsAService shitshows.

  • That tech, with very few exceptions, is garbage and a waste of resources...

@Sassinake @[email protected] I'd tack on a title along with the extra JPEG recompression: "From the makers of MAAS (mansplaining as a service) comes PAAS (plagiarism as a service)!!!"

Thanks @ncweaver for coining MAAS or at least introducing it to me.

@cabel Eeyupp...

I hate #Bots doing #TechSupport even before #MansplainingAsAService in the form of #ChatGPT was even envisioned.

Because when I have a problem, I just want to cut the bullshit and get some #TechLiterate on the phone which does care and doesn't belittle me by saying "Have you tried to turn it off and back on again?"...

@caramel @benjaminhollon @LibreIvan

I think it's an honest mistake. "Ask ChatGPT if he wrote it!"

He didn't realize that AI is #MansplainingAsAService and is 100% a BS-er.

@[email protected] Christine Lemmer-Webber (@[email protected]) described ChatGPT as Mansplaining As A Service, and honestly I can’t think of a better description. A service that instantly generates vaguely plausible sounding yet totally fabricated and baseless lectures in an instant with unflagging confidence in its own correctness on any topic, without concern, regard or even awareness of the level of expertise of its audience.

Content-wise I agree, but if you ever read or listen to that human bloviator, you will realise ChatGPT has a much better grasp of the English language.
