寫作這篇文章的作者Linda Wolfe曾是Stewart Marcus的病人，報導主要寫了 Stewart and Cyril Marcus，兩位住在紐約 East 63rd Street 的雙胞胎婦科男醫生，在離奇死亡之前就已經流露出情緒波動巨大、精神狀態不佳、對病人時而易怒時而冷淡、口出body-shaming之語、經常遲到/取消日程等等非常不符合醫生從業道德規範的跡象，且應該已經在毒品濫用，但因為兩位醫生名高望重、從業成績斐然、沒有被人確鑿發現是在嗑藥，所以直到離奇死亡前幾週才被從診所趕出來。
（而且還是婦科醫生，可想而知他們的病人遭受了什麼）
他們的故事被Bari Wood寫成小說《Twins》，小說本身一定程度上也是柯恩伯格《Dead Ringers》電影的藍本。最近這個故事又一次地火了起來，是因為2023年Amazon Prime把柯恩伯格的電影翻拍成了迷你劇，由Rachel Weisz分飾兩位雙子。

It is so strong that, although we have come eons away from the kinds of superstitions that drove the Aborigines of Australia to murder one or even both of a twin set at birth, or some West African tribes to kill not just twin infants but the woman who had given birth to them, we are nevertheless mysteriously stirred and frightened when twins, born on the same day, die — or worse yet choose to die — at the same shared time. It arouses in us an almost primordial anxiety.」

The simultaneous or nearly simultaneous death of twins happens rarely, but when it does, it seems like some mysterious arithmetical proposition far beyond the ordinary computation involved in life and death.」

是從舞台到人物再到傳達效果都非常postmodern的一版！
演員每個人都是灰色毛衣/fitted undershirt/背心的上裝配極簡純黑kilt、及膝黑羊毛襪、黑色切爾西靴，偶爾有類似 Alexander McQueen 風格的 harness top / embellished belt / cropped double breasted blazer，看似低調實則非常精緻現代，給這個劇增加了些許 atemporal / anachronistic qualities 甚至 timelessness
舞台設計和風格也和服裝一樣，非常 minimalist + post-modern，樂隊在一塵不染的雙面鏡後面演奏，麥克白和夫人背對觀眾的時候能看到自己的倒影彷彿自我審視、內心的劇烈波動和瘋癲則是通過雙面鏡背後有人狠狠拍鏡面來傳達。最後雙面鏡被推開、不同的空間被黏連在一起互相流通，彷彿細胞壁的破裂、自我的邊界崩塌、精神世界不再被顱骨safely contained而是徹底地流淌一地完全敗北............這時麥克白坐在玻璃門的門欄上講出了那段經典的「tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow」獨白 
整個劇的音效都是靠每個座位上連的耳機裏傳出來的，來自五百年前的conversational norms與耳邊傳來的立體聲效和眼前的theatricals同步攝入有種新奇的錯位感，augmented theatre真的好有意思！
這版改變很適合Harold Pinter Theatre（他本人的劇作風格和在HPT上演的劇目都是走類似風格）觀感非常清新尖銳凜冽Scandinavian (?).........
感覺這一版夫妻倆共犯感的描繪筆墨沒有很重（也或許是1小時50分鐘無interval其實對於《麥克白》是很短的runtime，所以在許多地方都需要極簡）很大篇幅放在皇室各個勢力人員的角斗糾葛，所有幻覺鬼怪都沒有實體只是通過聲音和表演傳遞，在觀眾眼裏反而更瘋了 <333
第一次在劇場看《麥克白》還是大二的時候在愛丁堡，舞台設計妝造非常maximalist，女巫的衣服和吊威亞、森林樹葉的形狀、煙霧都做得非常細緻非常spectacular，整個劇印象最深刻的部分就是夫婦倆在辯論撕扯密謀殺人、在痛苦和道德之中沉浮，雖然是太久之前了也記得不夠清楚，但總之觀感很不一樣。我非常確信在那之後和昨晚之前還看過一次《麥克白》，level of "modernness" 和 "minimalism" 在這兩部作品之間，但實在是想不起來是誰的版本了.............
anyway能夠以另一種方式去感受這部作品非常幸福!!! 希望有朝一日能在紐約看上《Sleep No More》......... ;w;
