I didn't know that Canada no longer requires deposits from election candidates, as a result of a ruling by an Alberta judge in 2017.

It will be interesting to compare the raw numbers of votes he's received with those of the previous #CPC MP, Mr. Kurek. Presumably there are citizens there who are grumpy about going back to the polls so soon; but on the other hand there are also those delighted to have the party leader representing them.

I wonder how voters felt about the #LongestBallot ?

@mpjgregoire : running outside your home riding isn’t the issue — leaders sometimes do. The problem is why.

Mark Carney hasn’t parachuted into a riding, forced out a sitting MP who just won with 83% in April, and staged an unnecessary by-election just to cling to his position.

Again, that’s not leadership - that’s just entitled ego at voters’ expense. Battle River–Crowfoot already chose their MP. They’re being dragged back to the polls not because of democracy, but because Poilievre couldn’t face the reality of losing his own seat, and tjis the prospect of losing his power and title as Leader of the Oppositon. As well as his unbridled ambition to be PM himself.

Battle River–Crowfoot voters easily deciding between 200+ candidates so far — in an unnecessary by-election, all because PP the Entitled would rather a sacrificial lamb than resign after losing his own seat in April…THAT’s the real insult to voters.
