"“I saw a huge cube flying into the air, at least 40 feet up, about as high as the nearby buildings,” attendee Eric Chicas told the paper. “I remember thinking and hoping nobody was inside.”"
A tragic story. This article provides more details, but we still haven't learned if the bouncy castle was staked to the ground.
CMHC warns of a 'significant barrier' to fixing the housing crisis

Development charges, but not only.
"Despite all the new policies and programs, housing construction has yet to take off. Less than a year ago, the CMHC admitted that the crisis might get worse because housing starts were expected to fall in 2025, 2026 and 2027, leaving production at less than half the 480,000 that the CMHC says Canada needs to add each year over the next decade."
"The Carney government has announced the establishment of an Independent Military Honours Review Board to review cases of Afghanistan veterans, where new evidence suggests that their bravery meets the criteria for the Canadian Victoria Cross."
"The most recent Canadian recipient was Lieutenant Robert Hampton Gray. He was awarded the original Victoria Cross posthumously for combat action that occurred in August 1945."

"The biggest threat to the UCP, in fact, may be the loss of conservative moderates. Many are disgusted enough by separatist noise to leave the party. On voting day, they could sit on their hands or even back the NDP."
You don't have to be a moderate conservative to oppose secession; tearing up a successful country is one of the least #conservative ideas in politics.

Carney has no plans to allow human rights complaints on online hate
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/carney-government-abandons-trudeau-era-effort-to-allow-human-rights-complaints-on-online-hate-speech
"Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is abandoning efforts by his predecessor to reintroduce into the Canadian Human Rights Act the ability to bring forward complaints of online hate speech."
There are traditional limits on #FreeSpeech: threats, slander, etc. Possibly #HateSpeech should also be illegal; but not with the low legal burdens of the Human Rights Tribunals.
Combined federal, provincial debt to exceed $2.4T this year: study
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/federal-provincial-net-debt-fraser-institute
"Provincially, Manitoba has the highest combined debt as a share of GDP at 91.3 per cent in 2025-26, and while Alberta experienced the largest increase in that regard (21.5 per cent), its debt as a share of GDP remains the lowest in Canada (8.1 per cent)."
Often when people discuss gov't debt in Canada, we only think of the feds, but that's a mistake.
"The front page of [le Journal de Montréal] on Wednesday showed the new premier, all smiles, sporting a Habs jersey. In big bold letters, it read: “A Fréchette effect on voting intentions.”"
How Fréchette — and the Habs — are shaping up Quebec politics

"While the PQ is still on track to form government — probably a minority — Quebec Liberals, the CAQ, the Quebec Conservatives and Quebec Solidaire are all poised to win seats."
Wherein a national newspaper hear-me-outs apartheid.
