Interactivity doesn't have to be data-based nor complicated to be interesting. In Rafael Soto Acebal's Parasitic Radiolaria the interaction was provided by strings to be touched, immediately and clearly showing the effect in the reflections of light. Seen at Lichtrouten Lüdenscheid in 2025.

Some light art festivals have an up-and-coming / young artist / curator programs, which I profoundly appreciate. Lüdenscheid's Lichtrouten has one, too. This example is Katerine Ketelhake's In Aspik, conserving ever-young Barbie's limbs in gelatin made of meat broth, used to preserve food.

FEROCOCO N° 12 by François Morellet is a fine example of his elegant, gauzy and somewhat geometrical style in neon art.
Seen at Lichtrouten Lüdenscheid 2025.

Even if not quite naturalistic in style, Chacahoula by Keith Sonnier is more figurative than most his artworks. It's a part of a series referring to existing places, to Chacahoula bayou in this case. The artwork was a part of Lichtrouten Lüdenscheid 20215, brilliantly curated by Bettina Pelz and Tom Groll.

There are approximately 1,5 gazillion media art pieces, where audience can see themselves in monitors. I find Ksawery Komputery's Flux somewhat special, though, since it's not just faces filtered funny, but an ever changing composition, oscillating between happy and dystopic. Flux has been a hit at festivals, and rightly so. The only fault I find in the piece is the generic name. Here seen at Lichtrouten, Lüdenscheid, 2025.

The #Lichtrouten festival of light in Lüdenscheid last week was a real delight. I expected some projection mapping, maybe a bit of LED blinkenkitsch, but the artworks really ranged from surprising to stunning. Here are some photos I took. This was one of my favourites. Margareta Hesse illuminated a church with a red line laser that slowly moved up and down, visually slicing the room in half, creating some stunning shadow play.

#Lichtrouten in #Lüdenscheid was a very nice #LightArt festival indeed! Not surprisingly, since the curator was #BettinaPelz, a guarantee of quality. Thought-provoking, not too flashy. Here's #TimEtchell's Never Sleep, placed fittingly right above the staff's meeting area.
