A judge has ordered the Donald Trump-appointed lawyer who led failed prosecutions of two of his political opponents to
explain why she is still representing herself as US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia -- after another judge ruled she was in the position unlawfully.
In an order filed in the districtâs Richmond division on Tuesday, #Lindsey #Halligan was given seven days to explain why she had engaged in âprofessional misconductâ by continuing to sign indictments.
Halligan -- Trumpâs former personal lawyer -- was installed by the president in September to lead the prosecutions of two political figures with whom he had frequently clashed: #James #Comey, the former director of the FBI, and #Letitia #James, attorney general for the state of New York.
âïžFederal judge Cameron McGowan Currie threw out both cases in November, writing in a scathing opinion that Halliganâs installation was invalid, and
âall actions flowing from Ms Halliganâs defective appointmentâ were
âunlawful exercises of executive power and must be set asideâ.

The three-page order signed Tuesday by district court judge David Novak, in an unrelated case, is similarly unequivocal.
âWhile the US has appealed Judge Currieâs opinion and order, no stay has been issued in conjunction with that appeal,â he wrote.
âConsequently, it remains the binding precedent in this district and is not subject to being ignored.â

Former New York state governor #Andrew #Cuomo on Saturday announced a run for mayor of New York City,
an attempt to come back from a sexual harassment scandal that forced him to resign more than three years earlier.
Cuomo, 77, served as governor from 2011 to 2021, guiding the state through the worst, deadliest months of the Covid-19 crisis.
But he was forced to resign in August of his final year as governor when an investigation commissioned by the New York attorney general, #Letitia #James, found he had sexually harassed at least 11 women during his time in office.

According to police, Tyler Vogel, 26 of Lancaster NY, sent a text message to New York Attorney General #Letitia #James, saying he would useđž âdeath and physical harm đžif she did not comply with his requests to cease actionâ against Donald Trump,
specifically, the seizure of his assets and properties following New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoronâs ruling in February.
In texts to both Engoron and James, Vogel reportedly told the judge that he would defend himself with âïžâdeadly forceâ âïžand would go after the officials with the same.
Vogel is accused of telling James in particular that he had a âŠïžâwhole wall of deadly weaponsâ âŠïžto choose from.
đâMark my words I will kill you if you even dare to permanently steal Donald Trumps assets or his property,â đhe is accused of writing in one text sent late last month.
A complaint filed in Lancaster notes that Vogel is accused of using a âpaid online background websiteâ to seek out James and Engoronâs private information and that this âconfirmed intentions to follow through with the threats were his demands not met.â
Vogel is facing two felony counts of making terroristic threats and a pair of second-degree aggravated harassment misdemeanor charges.
As first reported by the Buffalo News, Vogel is accused of telling James that he was giving herđč âfair warningâ that she was ânot to permanently steal Donald Trumps assets or his property.âđč
âFurthermore,â Vogel allegedly wrote to James, đâyou are not to imprison Donald Trump.â
Public inmate records show that Vogel was detained at the Erie County Holding Center on March 25.
A statement released two days after his arrest by Erie County District Attorney John Flynn noted that if convicted, the 26-year-old man faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
A lot of people celebrating the fact the #Trump says he can't raise the $454 million needed to cover his fines and #Letitia #James is going to seize his New York properties.
As much as I would like to see this happen let's take a moment.
The deadline is next Monday March 25th, it hasn't passed yet. He still has 5 days to raise the money.
This is Trump saying he can't get the money, when was the last time he said anything true?
My take is that the money is already arranged and that the announcement he's raised the money will be a big dramatic moment so that he and his MAGAts can have their moment in the sun. You can probably trace the money back to Russian banks.
I hope I'm wrong but this whole process looks more like a dog and pony show instead of real justice.
