Hey folks. For alt text I need to make clear the difference between a compass (the thing that draws/measures circles) and a compass (that magnetic thing that shows the direction you're facing). How do you do that? I need to make sure it's clear I mean the first thing (the drawing thing). It's about an icon in the image.

Help?

In the book I'm reading, someone "extruded a smile". Is this a British expression? (setting is Devon, contemporary)

Brit friends, help? Would someone from a good family--not aristocracy, but perhaps landed gentry--refer to themselves as "a posh" when talking to someone else? As in, "I may be a posh from (place), but..."

(please share for reach)

ETA: question answered; thanks!

Language question for native English speakers: would anyone say, "my sorry for (person) grew"?

It sounds and looks extremely weird to me, but English isn't my first language.

Help?

Hi guys, does anyone on here know #Japanese #katakana and could help me with something? My name is Staci and I need to translate it into katakana, which of these is more correct:
ステイシー
スティシー
or
ステーシー

the internet and my professor are giving me conflicting answers. #translation #translations #help #japanesehelp #languagehelp #languagelearning #japaneselanguage #japanese101
