K. W. Jeter is an American science fiction author who coined the term "steampunk" in a 1987 letter to Locus magazine. A protege of Philip K. Dick, he wrote the proto-cyberpunk novel Dr. Adder and three authorized Blade Runner sequels exploring dystopian futures shaped by corporate power and eroding identity.
