I just put in an order for some replacement parts I messed up on my RV-10 elevator as well as the sealant kit they recommend. So I think I'm getting ye olde motivation to go finish those elevators.

Here is a very short video clip of me installing a pull rivet from the inside view. The Zenith CH750 gets a tiny bit closer to done.

My EAA chapter has acquired a second airplane build. We're starting up a Youth Build project and trying to engage the local schools.

I just finished the first draft of a Youth Airplane Build charter for my EAA Chapter. I've never made one before but now I have a nice 5 page document specifying how the program will run. It needs some work, input from others, board approval, blah blah blah.

As a kid I never appreciated the amount of coordination and work things like this are, ignoring the complexity of building the aircraft itself. It should be a fun and rewarding experience once we get there.

My EAA chapter build nights are seeing progress as rivets go into the wing. It looks like an airplane part! The payoff of all that prep work!

Last night for my EAA Chapter's Tuesday Builds we continued work on the left and right wings of the Zenith CH750. I worked on getting the stringers deburred and marked up while other members drilled them to match the wings while also working on wing skins.

Remember that RV-10 I was building? It's still there. Now that I've recovered from my burnout I started working on the elevator again. I was starting to prepare the ribs and other interior parts for primer by roughing up the surface. The ribs are made from two pieces and so I put on a twitch stream and just started working on parts. I got most of them done.

Next steps are to finish the ribs, rough up the interior of the skins, prime everything (except where the foam ribs get bonded), bond the foam ribs, then riveting. Once this elevator is done I get the pleasure of doing it all again.

Yesterday evening was my EAA Chapter's build night for our Zenith kit. Some of us went about drilling the final holes for the wing ribs and riveting them while the other members were in the process of preparing the rear spar for the wing. While we were working a very heavy rain storm hit (just in time to soak the grass runway that just dried out).

We are SO back.

Tuesday build night at the EAA Chapter Hangar. We sold off the Murphy Rebel kit and continue the work on our Zenith kit. I spend most of the time digging out some mislabeled parts. This will be the rear spar on the wing and it requires some reinforcement. I eventually found everything, got it oriented as expected, and drilled some holes. We've been bitten so many times by rushing we had three people going over the plans and confirming the actions before I drilled the holes up to size (hope we did it right).

Mark Schaible, the Owner and President of Sonex, gave my EAA chapter a tour of their facilities and explained how they got to where they are making kitplanes and where they are going in the future. I'm a big fan of the little jet they have and if I had piles of money I'd definitely build one.
