Some #islanders in #Orkney attend weekly #vigil on #Kirk Green in #Kirkwall every Saturday between 1 and 2pm

hey have been doing so since the end of October 2023. #Photographs & #films are made which are seen by #Palestinians in #refugee camps, and those who have been displaced. It gives them hope when they find that even as far away from them as Orkney is, that there are people who know of their #suffering, and who care.

A few years back, we took a trip titled "Scotland and Orkney". I've been wanting to go to Orkney for years so was very excited. Due to life's usual effups, the Orkney part was pared down to four hours (out of eight days). 45 minutes in Kirkwall ... I _ran_ around trying to get some semblance of an impression of the place. At least these good natives had the kindness of throwing their hen/stag party right outside of St Magnus's cathedral! A nice touch having both him and her in the same do instead of separating them, and one of them sometimes ending up in Jakarta rolled up in a carpet, or some such. Anyroad, I shall have to go back to Orkney. Reading tip: The Outrun by Amy Liptrot.
