Iran still exporting millions of barrels of oil through Strait of Hormuz even as other traffic paralyzed

Traffic through the strait, normally the conduit for a fifth of global oil output, has been severely curtailed since the start of the Iran conflict. But Iran itself is shipping oil through the waterway in almost the same volumes as before the war, earning the cash needed to sustain its economy and war effort.

he will only harm himself with this. if this oil goes off the market china is going to buy it elsewhere and it will push prices even higher. it is all a stock & flow problem.

Donald #Trump said on Saturday that the United States may carry out more strikes on Iran's #Kharg Island oil export hub "just for fun", saying that while #Tehran appears ready to make a deal to end the conflict, "the terms aren't good enough yet".

NASA FIRMS shows the portions of #Kharg Island, #Iran, on fire in the last 48 hours. The two sections have two particular common traits: (a) having open pipelines near storage facilities and (b) in an area w/ military facilities. The smaller red area has earth bermed bunkers (see: https://gogl.to/42KJ) and the larger one has batteries of anti-ship missiles (see: https://gogl.to/42KK).

Other military facilities are untouched.
