Imagine you can fax someone instructions (or a grocery list etc) for the next thing you send that needs special paper, like sticker paper. You load it, then they send you it: boom.

You now have a whole page of labels, ready to cut stickers, or equipment signs.

And a pager is basically just an authenticator dongle with far, far more functionality.

Not least being prank your friends.
