I did NOT know this. Why is it in an opinion essay and not in news stories about Trump’s immigration rants? #journalisticMalpractice “Sixty years ago, the United States abolished immigration restrictions based on nationality alone. By 1965, such discrimination had become an embarrassment.”

@slashdot

Between Slashdot and the cited Wired article, the only source provided is a Microsoft employee who *certainly* had no reason to be less than honest.

Giving them far more credit than they deserve, I want to see the published findings and methods

Using my brain along with the available evidence, I think I’ll just disregard this nonsense on its face

Hey The News? Your headlines about the ego parade are appalling. Know what really brought "1000s" out to DC? #NoKings Millions if you count every state. Stop glorifying Trump's ego fest. He called the military "suckers/losers," he uses them as props, he exploits them. #JournalisticMalpractice

the full line is "When you upload or input information through Firefox, you hereby grant us a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that information to help you navigate, experience, and interact with online content as you indicate with your use of Firefox." (emphasis mine)

That's legalese for "when you use firefox to put data on the internet, you can't sue us for putting that data on the internet bc telling our browser to send your data somewhere is the same as giving us permission to do that"

This is a completely reasonable thing for them to state; to cut the quote off as in the OP is at best misleading and at worst malicious and inflammatory.
