Returning to this, because a recurring issue that also comes to mind is Russians covering the affairs of countries that their own is occupying or trying to occupy, when local voices should be elevated and prioritised. Yes, Politkovskaya did great work, but also had a major platform. Were there Chechen journalists whose voices were silenced by bombs, or lack of platforms wanting to publish their work?
