Why do IT projects tend to under-deliver, over-run and cost far more than anticipated?

'In the UK in the 1990s it was estimated that 90 per cent of IT systems put in failed to deliver the expected results.'

Tbh, I'm not sure this is a problem unique to IT projects. They tend to be higher profile, cost more and failures often have particularly disastrous consequences.

Interesting the point he makes about secrecy & scrutiny in the public vs private sectors.

Why is it that IT projects do not come in on budget and on time?

Expert says issue is not unique to Ireland or the public sector

This VA project is partly a disaster because of Trump, but VA management has, for decades, insisted on replacing its existing system instead of fixing it.

Trying to get myself motivated for....anything really.

Been looking for work for a few months now after working non-stop for the previous 18 months; late nights, early starts and long days.

Getting nowhere fast with the jobs I've applied for. I'm lucky if I get a rejection email.

Feeling a bit demoralised today.

Here's a pic of Wally to cheer me (and hopefully anyone else who needs it!) up.
