Today I’ve been thinking a lot about a world where race, gender, freedom of belief, or ethnicity are no longer the main themes of human rights.
A world where other human species could’ve also survived and coexisted — where the limits of systems and beliefs are gone, and our perspective finally widens.

@elmyra We have decided to ban all digital advertising, thereby getting rid of the big tech monopolies as well as a huge part of overconsumption and its associated CO2-emissions, in one fell swoop. People's general wellbeing has improved dramatically, and we have managed to steer part of the liberated workforce towards socially useful work.
I've been making art and a series of essays showing a bunch of facets of a work-in-progress solarpunk future at https://jacobcoffinwrites.wordpress.com/postcards-from-a-solarpunk-future/ focussing mostly on rural areas like my hometowns.
The short version is a lot of creative reuse, library economy systems, different approaches to transportation and living arrangements, as well as some substantial deconstruction and rewilding. I think perhaps most of the challenges of moving away from cars would be born by rural areas
I think revamping the education system is a must - Paying teachers and professors properly, investing money in maintaining schools and proper equipment and making learning more interactive and in line with current scientific knowledge.
Studying would be something anyone can and would do - no matter their age. If someone in their 50s goes back to university, we wouldn't scoff at them. Education would be free of course (including universities!).
We would work to build a local community - not to increase house prices but to genuinely look after each other. Make sure that elderly and disabled neighbours (yep that's me) are cared for. Make sure new arrivals to the community (see unhoused people and refugees) are welcomed, valued, cared for. Make sure basic needs (food, housing, healthcare, therapy) are met, and that folks can contribute what they're able. Share skills, cultures, knowledge, tools.
A community is freshly moved into a new, wooden, sustainable, climate-controlled tower designed to help them be close to each other and live communally. For some it is a dream come true, for others it is a culture shock, but everyone is struggling with the trauma of losing their old homes to floods, fires and relocation programs. While the adults deal with their emotions, children are quick to run around and explore the wonders of their new home.
