I wrote this poem a couple of years ago in solidarity with immigrants everywhere. I am Danish but have made Scotland my home. Not everyone is welcomed by all. But we are all earth inhabitants. 🌍

Once, two ladies were struggling with the bottle return machine at the store. They were holding up several other customers.
An older Dutch man decided to complain about those "fucking immigrants" to me.
I was honest and told him I was an immigrant (in Dutch). He looked surprised and responded with "Oh, well... I don't mean YOU."
I am a part of that group and will face the consequences of being a part of that group whether you mean me or not.
I think about this a lot.
