San Rafael Swell, I-70, Utah is a massive geological uplift. San Rafael Reef is eastern edge of the Swell. In last stages of Interstate 70 construction, a great engineering feat of blasting a highway through the solid rock of the Reef was achieved in the late 1960s. I-70 here is among the most scenic as it crosses the country.
