I would really like to know what was the real reason to use home plug green for communication between electric car (#EV) and #charger.

#Homeplug green was intended as low bandwith "ethernet" (10Mb) over power line. Its spes has just 650 pages there is probably only one phy manufacturer and in charger, it doesn't even use power line but CP pin which signalizes how much AC current can car draw.

@james There is a standard for ethernet over powerline. It's called #Powerline or #HomePlug #AV2. Also, the reason they use data-over-powerline is that it removes one level of complexity. The devices no longer need a #wifi adapter to work. For instance, in the #US some cable routers (#COAX into the home, then #ethernet to the wifi #adapter) also provide that ethernet over #Powerline.

If the wifi adapter dies or breaks, the internet is still available to #Powerline devices.

Is there Free software to detect and manage #PLC Power-Line Communication adapters on a home network ?
