Help! I’m on a Masters placement at an archive. Nothing has been catalogued. I’ve been asked to make a start. Where do I start? No funds. Only Excel. Possibly Modes in the future. A thread about sutures! Merson sutures we’re developed in Edinburgh, and manufactured on a site I walk past on my home from work - though the building isn’t there any more. They were developed by an Aberdonian pharmacist called George Merson who moved to Edinburgh in 1905. Before WWI, he was employed by J.F.Macfarlan and Co, who led the way in manufacturing surgical products such as anaesthetics and analgesics - including morphine acetate, the medicinal version of heroin #histmed #historydons
