Four weeks ago, on Monday, Aug. 28, around 3,000 cubic metres of rock crashed onto the highway near Summerland, causing temporary traffic chaos.
Highway 97 rockslide: Two lanes open starting Friday
The highway was closed Aug. 28 because of the rockslide. Since Sept. 11, it has been operating with single-lane-alternating traffic as crews worked to stabilize the hillside.

“The sensors show a steady continuing movement of the slope,” said the Ministry of Transportation. “The highway remains closed at this time to protect the motoring public.”
