Die Wallfahrtskirche Ermita del Rocío im kleinen Örtchen #ElRocío ist von einem großen Sandplatz umgeben. Der Ort erinnert an eine Westernstadt, es gibt keine befestigten Straßen, nur Sandwege, sodass eher Kutschen und Reiter*innen als Autos zu sehen sind. Einmal im Jahr kurz vor Pfingsten strömen 1 Mio. Menschen hierher, während El Rocío den Rest des Jahres keine 2.000 Einwohner*innen hat.

The #ErmitaDelRocío in the little village of El Rocío is surrounded by sand, like much of the rest of the village. With the lack of paved roads, the village looks a bit like a town in the Wild West, because you might see horse-drawn carriages or riders rather than cars. Once a year, 1 million pilgrims descend upon El Rocío, which has not even 2,000 inhabitants.
