Der erste Name, der einem hierzulande einfällt, denkt man an Bildhauerei der klassischen Moderne aus Großbritannien, ist wohl der von Henry Moore. At the current Hurvin Anderson exhibition at #Hepworth Museum #Wakefield, the artist has curated a room with works that were particularly influential on him.... included is this wonderful 1979 piece (from #TateBritain) by Michael Andrews; Melanie & me swimming.
It was one of he first works I really remember being struck by (alongside a piece by Patrick Caulfield) when I was a young non-nothing gallery visitor in my early 20s.
Came to Eastbourne to look at some art, as well as some beach. Nice to discover a fairly modern gallery (the Towner) with an excellent Hepworth exhibition, as well as works by Warhol and Perry in the free section.
Didn't know much about Hepworth but find her sculptural work pleasing in its simplicity and cleanness. Plus, and I don't mean this in a bad way, the gallery had really thought about the lighting, showing off the work to its best effect.
