Following on from my previous post, this is a picture of a Hindu temple near me in North London. Coincidentally, it is dedicated to Murugan (aka Kartikeya or Skanda).

His statue can be seen on the left, with his peacock and his spear of knowledge.

As Murugan is especially popular amongst Tamils, this temple also does a lot of work in the Tamil (and wider Dravidian) community.

#Transport for #London has awarded #Haringey, #Lewisham and #Southwark up to £10m each over four years to deliver borough-led schemes under the Better Bus Partnerships programme. The funding will support measures to cut journey times by up to 30 per cent, improve reliability and make buses a more attractive alternative to private cars. Planned work includes new bus priority lanes, better management of roadworks, upgraded stops and safer walking links to stations. The three boroughs were selected through a competitive process and will now work with #TfL on detailed #planning through 2026, with delivery expected from 2027. TfL says the programme will boost customer experience and support wider goals for cleaner, greener travel. Borough leaders welcomed the investment, highlighting the importance of reliable #buses for residents who do not own cars and the role of improved services in supporting #regeneration, better connections and safer, more accessible streets.

🚨*Following on from the “anti-terrorist” raid by hundreds of police this morning at the Kurdish Community Centre (KCC)* in Portland gardens, Haringey Green Lanes the community are calling on supporters to head there in solidarity with the *six* who were brutally arrested and against the repression by the British state. KCC is currently being occupied by cops who said they plan to search the community centre for up to two weeks.
