A #Quark is a type of elementary particle and a fundamental constituent of matter.

Quarks combine to form composite particles called #hadrons, the most stable of which are protons and neutrons, the components of atomic nuclei.

What are Quarks and Gluons?

Gluons are elementary particles that "glue" quarks together.

How do quark-gluon-plasma fireballs explode into hadrons?

Quark gluon plasma (QGP) is an exciting state of matter that scientists create in a laboratory by colliding two heavy nuclei. These collisions produce a QGP fireball. The fireball expands and cools following the laws of hydrodynamics, which govern how fluids behave in various conditions. Eventually, subatomic particles (protons, pions, and other hadrons, or particles made up of two or more quarks) emerge and are observed and counted by detectors surrounding the collision.

What #eLoNMuSK just tweeted are original names of SIX quarks. Over time "beauty" remained in "bottom" #Quark (discovered in 1977) and "truth" remained in "top " #Quark (discovered in 1995)
#Hadrons, fundamental particles that sense strong interaction, are made of quarks

#CMSPaper 1199: Many quark combinations make #mesons, particles composed of a quark+antiquark. This paper measures how B mesons form; these contain bottom (or: #beauty) quarks plus one other (lighter) quark.

Conclusion: the production is slightly different when a #bottom quark finds a relatively heavy strange quark during hadronization compared to lighter down & up quarks (and shows those are behaving similarly) http://cms-results.web.cern.ch/cms-results/public-results/publications/BPH-21-001/index.html #particlephysics #CERN @CMSexperiment #hadrons #physics
