Recently, I've been writing about theoretical concepts of intelligence and IQ tests. I have a love-hate relationship with IQ scores. On the one hand, the scoring data can provide some interesting insight about a student's learning profile. But, on the other hand, the tests are so problematic. /1

#Parents and #teachers often forget that intellectual maturity does NOT equal #emotional #maturity with highly and profoundly #gifted kids. Instead of pathologizing normal #childhood behavior, the adults in the room need to re-evaluate their own expectations and provide support (if even necessary) to kids who are just being kids.
I worked at a state uni teacher prep program and I can tell you those UG & grad students got almost no training in #SpecialEd. What we do know is that many teachers rely on "junior instructors" in their classrooms to support the needs of struggling #students. You know, the #gifted kids who get paired up on group projects with less engaged classmates - or how #PeerTutoring is used under the guise that it helps the GT kid reinforce their own learning.
