blood and bone but I still had wings, once, stitched from
kind traditions and
stories that sparkled with magic and
rounds sung on bad days. I fell
out of the sky and they
shredded on the outstretched
fingers, the
sharp spikes of a world gone grey and cold but now
I'm rebuilding them, bit by bit
stitch by bloody stitch, song and story by
song and story even when it

grasping fingers of nighttime envelop me in their chilly suserations. Stuck mute, I only stare, as a soft feminine whisper begins it's cry. "I just want to be heard says I." My throat closes, choking up, for I know that the shadows of this lonely sorrow will never have a voice. My throat has been scoured clean by life, and I cannot share this burdan with even the most understanding of souls, no matter how much yielding softness beckons to my parched presence. Some wounds are just too painful to bring out of their clenched cocoon. Yet still I long for the rest of that release, craving the benediction of confession, as the vines wind ever tighter around my withered heart.
