This morning, as we enter the first day of Passover, I received the most beautiful gift—a photo of little 5-year-old Athena tracing the letter Aleph in my Hebrew 1 workbook, guided by her loving grandmother, Gracia M. Gombita

In the midst of so much turmoil in the world, this image brought me peace, hope, and purpose.

A child learning Hebrew… a grandmother passing on tradition… a language that carries generations of resilience and light.

This is what Passover is about. Not just the story of freedom from Egypt, but the ongoing journey of identity, memory, and connection. From one generation to the next.

This is why I teach. This is why I create.

To everyone beginning the holiday—Chag Pesach Sameach. May we continue to pass down beauty, truth, and belonging, letter by letter. Great job Athena, let’s cheer her on ❤️

My wife and I drove up to Shreveport, Louisiana Friday and stayed the night in a hotel on the bank of the Red River. One of our granddaughters drove down from the university where she is attending. It is almost exactly the halfway point. We had a grand time visiting, eating out, and shopping.

Ben and Charlie are boarded with the veterinarian. A minor problem with boarding them there is the vet closes at noon on Saturday and doesn't open up again until Monday morning, so they are stuck in lockup until tomorrow.

We will venture into the wilds of Arkansas soon, for a couple of days. A granddaughter is headed to college and wants us to join her for her moving in day. It is a really big deal for her. The excitement, of her first time away from home must be thrilling. You can imagine how proud I am of her, she's smart and somewhat of an athlete - primarily basketball. She'll do well in life.

I'll be taking Ban and Charlie to stay with the veterinarian for a couple of days. I don't like leaving them, they both get a bit of separation anxiety. I got them that way I suppose. Since I retired a couple of years ago, I'm around all the time, and they don't mind.
