Techy Fedipedia question…
Anyone using a #GivEnergy All In One battery and Giv-Gateway with #HomeAssistant?
I see that GivTCP is available, but does it give full local visibility and control of both the battery and gateway? Or is it just the battery?
This morning I noticed that our #GivEnergy solar inverter wasn't talking to Home Assistant.
Tested using my own older scripts which talk to it directly via ModBus. Similar failure.
Tried opening the inverter's Android app - wouldn't connect.
Dug into it a bit more and discovered that it was reporting a system date of 2025-13-31.
So I reset the date on the inverter and everything came back to life. Looking on the forums, lots of other people are seeing the same problem. Wouldn't like to be working on their support desk today!
Who needs Y2K bugs when you can have 31/12 bugs?
If there is anyone here in the UK with a #Growatt or #GivEnergy inverter, we've just launched our public beta trial battery optimiser if you would like to give it a go I would really appreciate the feedback!
I recently had a #GivEnergy inverter and battery installed, and overall I don't think these devices are ready for the non-technical consumer! Have a read about my adventures around #security and #automation.
WOOO got it working 😁
So managed to write a small #golang #azure function app which, on an http request, calls the #GivEnergy API to find my inverter, collect the latest meter data, and then return a summarised version of it.
It's pretty bloody performant as well which is good.
Anyone curious about the numbers in the image, it's late in the day now and so not getting much from the sun which is why the battery is discharging. The negative grid value means I'm exporting (a little bit)
