I signed up to Axle Energy who will pay me a good rate for exporting from my #solar battery with a guaranteed £10 monthly payment. If you have a #GivEnergy system they will pay the subscription to keep using the full online app too. Plus there is a £25 signup bonus.

Axle Grid Services | Get Paid to Support the Grid

Axle Energy helps UK homeowners unlock guaranteed savings by enrolling their solar and battery systems in grid services.

Most people that have read Cory Doctorows book Enshittification seem to take it as a horror story warning about what can happen when tech companies turn evil.

The folks at #GivEnergy seem to have taken it as an instruction manual.

@Shobeck They claim that local access will always work. Which is OK for one of our systems where we have Home Assistant, but not for the other where we don't and it would be a pain to install. (I've never used the app anyway. I don't piss around on a tiny phone screen when I can use a real computer with real display, keyboard and mouse.)

#givenergy #HomeAssistant

I have a Givenergy home battery. The company recently went into administration. Their mobile app has just been updated and its shit! They have removed so much, and what's left is ugly and nags about upgrading.
Just hoping someone creates an alternative.
#givenergy
So I have had an email from #GivEnergy to tell me the app is updating and with options.
- Sending the email before crashing the app would have been polite.
#GivEnergy system (battery) appears to be out of my control - unless I am on a subscription?
Company emails suggested local control would be maintained. Any suggestions?
@sean The software side of #GivEnergy are separate to the hardware side, and it's the hardware side which has called the administrators in. My issue is with the app/website after changes were made yesterday (I assume the software GE were changing platforms to make them more independent from hardware GE)
There's nothing like a ranty message to #GivEnergy to get the day started. Bullshit figures for my inverter really don't help me make the most of my solar power.
Curious to see what happens with #givenergy . I almost went with their kit because of the local network first approach. I hope people don't end up with bricked kit in a few years
Concerning to see GivEnergy go into administration. I got my home battery system from them. Whilst their customer service was a bit flakey, the web app was useful and the updates to the inverter were welcome.
Hopefully it still works ok locally.
