Aaannnd I’m thinking the robot boosting the #girlguide tag probably didn’t have my angry rant in mind!
Mastodon does a good job at not feeding the rage machine but I got so much out of guiding as a kid and thinking of trans girls who are going to have a hard enough childhood as it is, being summarily told to leave makes me pretty much weep with frustrated outlet-less anger.
From the #girlguide Promise: “Help others” “Be true to yourself”
From their leadership, on kicking trans kids out: “living by our values cannot change our legal responsibilities”
You utter abject cowards. You made a promise!
You could have been that “good friend and a sister to all Guides.”
Could have refused this bigoted intepretation of the law. Could have resigned and shown solidarity with those Guides getting kicked out.
But not you. You chose to break your promise instead.
Had a fantastic day with a pre-wedding shoot in #Liverpool, then tuned some bikes at #thefriendlybikemechanic .
Finished with coaching #GirlGuide on changing tires and essentials for day trips.
Highlight was an 11-year-old with a pristine vintage #Frenchbike —chrome shining, unique split top tube, and dynamo lights. She was knowledgeable and proud of it. #Biketooter 🙂
