I’m very pleased with the crumb of this poppyseed genoise. It’s not as heavy as a pound cake. Made with honey, butter, flour, eggs, vanilla, lemon rind.

The roof of our house has a so-called Genoise. There the rainwater runs into an old terracotta gutter. When we renovated the house in 2012 this part of the roof was ok. We changed a few tiles, cleaned and "mortared" everything. Last year a tree slowly grew out of the gutter. The gutter is located at a height of 12 meters. The tree destroyed the gutter and rainwater ran into the house wall. We built up a scaffolding and since a few days we have been repairing the roof. Today Tine removed the last root of the tree!

i made the Bûche de Noel this year!! lots of nerve-wracking firsts for me:

first #genoise, first #ganache (which separated and then got too hard when it set), first #swissroll (didn’t get much of a roll tbh) and first #meringue (unfortunately not pictured… it ultimately ended up fine but i didn’t have time to get the mushrooms assembled)
