@genchat I commented on historical newspapers here https://edintone.com/newspapers/ More recent reading suggests that court cases and reports of family events especially funerals are fairly safe. Reporters would collect their facts from the clergyman or undertaker. However treat crime reports with caution - they frequently included wild speculation and by today's standards would have prejudiced the trial. #genealogy #histodons @genealogy @histodons #genchat

#RootsTech Watching a replay of Provenance & Proof: Advanced Strategies for Finding & Using Manuscripts in Your Research. Reminds me of #genchat when Melissa Barker (The Archive Lady) shared her expertise with us!
I've taken some PTO & mapped out my #NotAtRootsTech schedule. If I'm up for it, there may be some random questions from #genchat throughout #RootsTech . We'll see! @genchat

52 Ancestors Week 51: Musical

A blog about genealogy.

@geneapleau Always a good tip to check the actual document or scan, especially on Ancestry. Often sections get skipped in the transcript when it gets harder to read or the transcriber doesn't understand the context - like marginal notes and end notes etc. #genealogy @genealogy #genchat
Glad to see #genchat trending on its last official day! 😊

One last thing: feel free to use the #genchat hashtag whenever you want. You never know who's following it!
And again, I may host a pop-up chat now & then, or use this account to share various #genealogy news.

And I'll be on my personal account as well, hopefully more regularly!
