Okay so I need to make my own split mechanical keyboard. But I want my keyboard to have dual functions. Both a keyboard and a "micro" PC. After long discussions in Rust Offtopic Matrix room and then Rust Embedded room, I think it's a good idea to use Milk V Duo as the processor for my keyboard. And then add video output(HDMI), speaker/buzzer, microphone and Wifi. A shortcut on the device will switch between micro PC and ordinary keyboard.

An advantage of sophogo sg2002 SoC is that the TRM is fully available in English. This will be useful when I want to enter kernel development later. For now I will just do Linux on it.

A Milk V Duo with 512MB RAM and with Wifi costs only 18 USD.

Just discovered you could create a notification with notify-send with multiple buttons (-A "foo" -A "bar") and it's kind of nice.

I think I will finally do those scripts notifying user about long-due upgrades, end of life distro, your disk is about to be full, and your ram is full.

MFW...One could do visual novell with those notif.

...It's a terrible idea, buuuuuuut. That's almost added motive at this point.

Spending some of my #christmas #vacation #geeking around with #vintagecomputing and getting reacquainted with developing software for #msdos. Last time I did that must have been in the early #90s before I discovered #Linux.

So far I've given the #djgpp C compiler a go, but it seems a little messy and keep throwing internal errors. #OpenWatcom v2 seems promising, but has a horrible way of doing interrupt calls. The #borland suites seems outdated, but does come with a lot of libraries that the others don't have. I don't believe it can generate protected mode executables though.

Im actually only looking to do a couple of simple tools, and perhaps some sort of menu/launcher that can scan recursively for configuration files. For the ladder, word around the campfire is that #pdcurses is pretty good at drawing menus and other components in text mode. I'll investigate! Would be a new experience NOT starting by writing my own library for addressing the text mode screen directly.. AGAIN.. 😜

Started working on modifying the Voice (open source Audio Book player) application to introduce hardware keyboard control (hopefully this would eventually be useful to visually impaired people).

This is the first time I am working with Kotlin programming language.

I joined Mastodon in November, posted a bunch for 2 months, and then stopped I wasn't finding much discussion about #photography which I was looking for at the time, just lots of people posting their shots.I hadn't really figured out how I wanted to use Mastodon outside of looking for discussion.

Now, I'm back. I'm just going to post about whatever I happen to be #geeking out about at the moment. If I can spark up conversation, that would be great. Otherwise, this will just be my place to share

I think I'd like to join a PBM game again. Do they still happen? Forums or email nowadays I guess? #geeking #nerding #roleplaying #playByMail
